Meet Mrs Hartley
I want to Welcome you to the 4th Grade! My name is GayLynne Hartley and this will be my ninth year teaching Fourth Grade at Sunset Ridge Elementary School! We are going to have a fun filled year of learning!
I grew up in Illinois on a farm in a small town of 1000 called Winchester. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree from Western Illinois University in General Studies and Nursing. I worked as an open heart surgical nurse for 9 years but I had always dreamed of becoming a teacher! After my children were born I decided to be a substitute teacher in the Chicagoland area! I fell in love with teaching so I then decided to go back to school and get my teaching degree! We moved to Phoenix in 2003 and I decided to attend ASU to pursue my dream of teaching. I graduated with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I taught 2 years in the Washington school district in fifth grade prior to coming to Sunset Ridge!
The one thing you will learn a lot about is my family. I have a wonderful husband of 20 years, Dan, and three beautiful children. It is very chaotic around my house with 3 very active teenagers! My son, Brock, will be a Freshman in college this year at Yavapai College where he is on a baseball scholarship! Yikes! We are looking forward to seeing him play as a Roughrider! My daughter Allye will be a senior this year and is an avid softball player! Last but certainly not least is my daughter Mckinney, who will be a sophomore this year and is also an avid softball player. They both attend Pinnacle High School. Baseball and softball fields are my second home and I absolutely love to watch them play! We have many pets, a Chihuahua named Bruiser, a Teacup Chihuahua named Cooper, 3 cats and 3 kittens, and many fish. I enjoy spending time with my family, scrap booking, reading books with a Starbucks Passion Tea Lemonade, going to see ALL movies, and I LOVE sports. I am an avid football fan as well as a die hard Cardinal baseball fan, and especially when my son and daughters are playing! I am a NASCAR fan and I love watching Dale Earnhardt Junior in the 88 car!
I love teaching and watching children develop into life long learners. I have very high expectations for my students! I also look forward to getting to know you and your family for a wonderful and successful school year! Feel free to contact me anytime!
