With absences comes a high number of homework requests. DVUSD Governing Board Policy IKEA-R states that ample time will be given for makeup work once a student returns to school after an absence. As well as:
- It will be the student’s responsibility to ask for makeup work and to arrange for a time to make up tests when the student returns.
-Students are allowed 2 days for every day they are absent to complete the work. For example: If you are absent three days you get 3 additional days to get your homework in.
- If the teacher is unable to supply the student with a makeup assignment, the student will not be held responsible for that makeup assignment.
- If work is not turned in by the time the assignment is due, and the student fails to provide an acceptable explanation of the extenuating circumstances that would merit an extension, the teacher may reduce the grade on the assignment or withhold credit on the assignment.
Due to the amount of time teachers are taking to put together homework requests, we are asking that you not request homework unless your child will be out for more than three days. Please remember that your child will be given ample time to complete the makeup work.
Late/missing assigments are different. If the assignment is late it will be marked in the grade book as a 50%. I will not be sending progress report home so be sure to check powerschools often!
Homework will not be for a grade but if it is not handed in then students will not be allowed to redo assignments or test.
